OROVILLE, Calif. – Shasta's men's cross-country team took third and two Knights earned top 10 finishes at the Golden Valley Conference Championships Friday at Butte College.
The Knights collected 62 points behind GVC champion Butte (24 points) and second-place Redwoods (41 points) with an average time of 25 minutes, 17 seconds. Gage Bellomo was the top finisher for Shasta, taking ninth and completing the 4-mile course in 24:23.5 for an average mile time of 6:05.9. Rief Ehlerding followed in 10th for a time of 24:35.8 (6:09 average).
Shasta's Devon Hammeke was 13th (25:23.6), Moses Bigelow was 14th (25:47.9) and Jackson Reindel was 16th (26:15.3). Jonathan Wetz also competed, taking 17th (26:16.2).
For the women, Shasta's Lauren Farber was the lone Knight competing. Farber took 12th overall in the 3-mile race, finishing in 28:08.8 for an average mile of 9:23.
The NorCal Championships are Friday and Saturday at College of the Redwoods.
