WEED, Calif. – Grace Southern finished second overall at the Siskiyou Bear Trail Invite Friday out of 21 competitors while Jacob Garrett's sixth-place finish paced the Knight men.
Southern, a freshman from Middletown, ran the 5K course in 22 minutes, 29 seconds while freshman Adrian Bartlett of Oakview Charter was fourth overall in 22:50.
For the men, Garrett needed 22:54 to run the 4-mile course for an average mile time of 5:43. Following Garrett was Joe Williams in 14th place (25:00), Jeshua Wilkerson in 18th place (26:03), Dixon Moore in 20th overall (27:00), Aaron Young for 23rd (27:58) and Isiah Wilson finishing in 28th (33:18).
"We trained through this meet and a lot of our team had heavy legs, which was our plan," said Shasta College cross-country coach Taylor Duncan. "We are gearing up for conference Nov. 1st at Butte and used this race as another workout. Dixon Moore and Adrian Bartlett had the best races of the year which was great to see as they work so hard and it was gratifying for them to see some results."
Shasta College competes Nov. 1 at the Golden Valley Conference championships at Butte College with the men running at 3 p.m. and the women at 4 p.m.
