KNIGHTS SWEEP MENDOCINO TO SNAP LOSING SKID

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's volleyball team snapped its eight-match losing streak with a three-set sweep at Mendocino on Thursday. The Knights lost both matches at the Solano Quad on Wednesday, falling to Los Medanos and Solano and finished 1-2 on the week.

Shasta was swept by Los Medanos 25-20, 25-22, 25-14. Brooke Vaughan totaled nine kills to lead the Knights while Emmarae Westphal added six kills, 15 digs and four service aces. Rose Young dished 23 assists in the loss.

In the loss to Solano, Shasta was swept 25-18, 25-17, 25-17. Vaughan's 10 kills paced the Knights and she added 10 digs for a double-double. Emma Mangini added six kills, Westphal added five kills and 11 digs and Javelle Clavelle contributed a team-high 14 digs. Young had 18 assists.

Shasta swept Mendocino 25-17, 25-10, 25-14. Westphal had 12 kills and 11 digs, Elizabeth Lopez had five kills and 13 digs, Clavelle had 18 assists, five kills and six digs and Vaughan had 12 digs. Young added nine digs and nine assists.

Shasta (2-10) plays Hartnell and San Mateo on Wednesday.
