KNIGHTS RALLY PAST SISKIYOUS IN GVC OPENER

WEED, Calif. – The Shasta College volleyball team opened up Golden Valley Conference play with a five-set road victory over College of the Siskiyous 27-29, 24-26, 25-21, 25-20, 15-6 on Friday.

The Knights rallied from down two-sets and had a match-high .318 hitting percentage in the deciding fifth set to pull out the win against the Eagles.

Shasta racked up 14 total blocks in the match compared to 8 from Siskiyous with Kelci Vance leading the way with 5.5 blocks to go with eight kills.

Sarah Ault delivered a balanced offensive attack that saw six Knights each tally a minimum of six kills. Ault dished 39 assists, slammed seven kills, totaled nine digs and added on three service aces in the win.

Presley Hamilton paced Shasta with 13 kills to go with 15 digs, Emmarae Westphal had eight kills, Macey Bunn totaled seven kills and Sanaii Cooper added six kills and 3 blocks. Brooke Vaughan contributed 29 digs in the victory.

Shasta (1-0, GVC, 5-13) host Lassen College Wednesday and Butte College on Friday.
