PRESLEY LEADS SHASTA TO DIABLO VALLEY CLASSIC TITLE

PLEASANT HILL, Calif. – Sophomore outside hitter Presley Hamilton recorded 29 kills in two matches as Shasta College's volleyball team rebounded from its opening weekend to pick up two victories in the Bay Area and win the Diablo Valley Classic.

The Knights beat DVC 25-20, 12-25, 25-16, 25-23 and swept Yuba College 25-14, 26-24, 25-9 later in the day.

Against DVC, Shasta had a .462 hitting percentage in the opening set and was led by Hamilton's 10 kills in the game. Five different players totaled at least four kills with Emmarae Westphal registering five kills and the Knights got four kills apiece from Sanaii Cooper, Macey Bunn and Kelci Vance. Bunn added 15 assists and Sarah Peters had seven digs. Shasta had 15 service aces in the match with Brooke Vaughn recording six of them followed by Hamilton's four.

Hamilton had more kills (19) than Yuba did as a team (17) in the Knights first sweep of the season. Cooper pitched in with six kills and Westphal had five kills. Kiara Yao dished 21 assists and Bunn delivered 14 assists while Vaught racked up 23 digs in the victory.

Shasta (2-2) plays four matches this week against Cosumnes River College and Taft on Wednesday and two at the San Joaquin Delta College Classic on Friday and Saturday.
