REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's volleyball team won its season finale at home on sophomore night Friday, beating Lassen College in four sets 25-13, 22-25, 25-12, 25-14.
The Knights had three players finish with double-digit kills with Olivia Kaczmarek leading the way with 12 kills, following by Jennifer Troxclair (10 kills, 12 digs) and Danae Ford, who had 10 kills and 22 assists. Aliyah Rosado Cruz contributed four kills and 25 assists while Charly Simpson added eight kills. Asha Woods pitched in with nine digs.
Shasta lost earlier in the week on its final road game at the hands of No. 2 Feather River, which won 25-14, 25-15, 25-16. Rosado Cruz's four kills paced the Knights while Olivia Sladek, Troxclair and Ford each had three kills. Ford added 10 assists.
Shasta ranked sixth in the state in matches played (27), 11th in reception errors (188), 19 th in ball-handling errors (49) and digs (1,426) and 21st in the state in total attacks (2,754).
The Knights had five players reach 90 kills on the season with Troxclair leading the way with 213, followed by Kaczmarek (132), Ford (105), Simpson (94) and Rosado Cruz (91).
Troxclair also led the team in kills per set (2.48) and service aces (43). Kaczmarek's .216 kill percentage was tops on the team, Ford added 412 assists (4.63 per set) and 215 digs, Rosado Cruz dished 231 assists, Simpson had 43 total blocks.
Shasta finished the season 5-5 in Golden Valley Conference play and 12-15 overall.
