SHASTA SWEEPS LASSEN FOR FIRST GVC WIN

SUSANVILLE, Calif. – Shasta College's volleyball team swept Lassen 25-14, 25-19, 25-12 Wednesday to pick up its first Golden Valley Conference win of the year.

The Knights couldn't play Friday's game against Butte due to the statewide power outages. The match had been postponed.

Shasta College had nine players of its 12 players who saw court time record kills in the match. Danae Ford, Jennifer Troxclair and Olivia Kaczmarek each had four kills while Charly Simpson had three kills, and the Knights got two kills apiece from Calley Rupert, Emma Montague and Asha Woods.

Aliyah Rosado Cruz had 10 assists and Ford had nine assists and three aces. Brittney Patton had two aces and five digs while Wendy Peppel had a team-best seven digs.

Shasta College is 1-1 in GVC play and 8-11 overall and plays at College of the Redwoods Wednesday at 6 p.m. and hosts Feather River College Friday at 6 p.m.
