REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's volleyball team won its final match of the season, sweeping Lassen at home on sophomore night 25-15, 25-13, 25-22 on Thursday.
The Knights sent four sophomores – Kaitlyn Kirk, Cameron Wallace, Jessica Troxclair and Brea Carter – off with a win in their last match as Knight.
Shasta finishes the year 9-23 overall and 3-7 in Golden Valley Conference play, winning three of its final four matches.
Wallace and Kirk did most of the damage as the sophomore duo has done all year. Wallace totaled 14 kills six blocks and Kirk had 11 kills while Troxclair added three kills and Carter pitched in with two kills and 10 assists. Freshman Mariah Castle contributed six kills, four aces and 17 digs while freshman setter Grace Lommen had 20 assists and freshman libero Jenna Hodges added 13 digs.
Shasta fell in the previous match, losing to Feather River in four sets 25-15, 21-25, 25-17, 25-15.
Wallace paced the Knights with seven kills while Shasta's Kirk, Lommen, Castle and Carter each added three kills. Lommen had 10 assists, Hodges recorded a season-best six service aces and she also led the team with 11 digs.
