REDDING, Calif. – Eight Shasta College volleyball players registered kills but the Knights fell to their rival Butte College Roadrunners in four sets 19-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-5 Friday night at home.
The Knights won the first set, totaling eight kills to only one hitting error. Although Shasta had 10 kills in the second set, it picked up 10 errors and couldn't keep up with Butte.
Sophomore middle hitter Cameron Wallace paced the Knights with eight kills and sophomore Kailtyn Kirk and freshman Mariah Castle each followed with seven kills. Grace Lommen's 18 assists were a team-best and freshman libero Jenna Hodges had a pair of service aces to go with 26 digs.
Most of Butte's damage was done from Carli Mendonca and Bailey Johnson, who registered 20 and 11 kills, respectively.
Shasta's losing streak has reached three matches and the Knights fall to 6-15 overall on the season. Shasta goes on the road this week for a pair of GVC contests at Lassen on Wednesday and at Siskiyous on Friday.
