KNIGHTS BLANK REDWOODS FOR FIRST WIN

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's women's soccer team beat College of the Redwoods 2-0 on Tuesday for its first victory of the year and followed it up with a 2-1 home victory over Feather River College on Friday.

Sophia Triantafyllou scored both goals on assists from Kara Teasley in the first half against Redwoods, the first coming in the 15th minute and the second in the 19th minute. Knights' goalkeeper Natalie Stockham recorded 11 saves in the cleansheet.

Against Feather River, Shasta trailed 1-0 at half with Audrey Garland scoring in the opening minute of the match. But Grace Dudley set up Triantafyllou from 18-yards out for the equalizer and Adilene Miranda scored on a direct free kick from 35-yards out for the go-ahead goal in the 77th minute. Stockham had six saves on seven opportunities and Triantafyllou had four shots on goal with Alicia Thomas, Dudley, Alenah Palmer and Teasley each recording a shot on goal.

Shasta plays at College of the Siskiyous on Tuesday for its only match this week.
