LAST MINUTE GOAL SINKS KNIGHTS AGAINST FEATHER RIVER

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College women's soccer team nearly played to a draw against Feather River but surrendered the lone goal of the match in the 90th minute to lose 1-0 in Golden Valley Conference action.

Alyssa Castillo scored on an assist from Maggie Bosworth in the 90th minute and the Knights lost on the road in Quincy. Shasta freshman goalkeeper Bethany Sather recorded two saves in the game.

Shasta also lost to No. 5 Lake Tahoe College 8-0 earlier in the week to stretch its winless streak to eight matches following the two shutout defeats. Sather had eight saves.

The Knights had scored in their previous five matches but couldn't find the back of the net in either one of those for the fifth and sixth time they've been shutout this season.

Sather's 95 saves ranks 10th in the California Community College Athletic Association state rankings.

Shasta hosts College of the Redwoods Tuesday at noon and goes to Butte College Friday.
