KNIGHTS SHUT OUT NAPA VALLEY TO END SKID

REDDING, Calif. – Alexis Arnold scored a pair of goals and the Shasta College women's soccer team beat Napa Valley 4-0 on Friday to snap a four-match losing streak.

Sophomore Paige Reed assisted Aspen Smith for a goal in the second minute and the Knights never looked back. Shasta got first-half goals from Kristin Adams and Alexis Arnold for a 3-0 lead at half and Arnold scored in the 72nd minute to put the match away.

Shasta's Smith, Reed and Savana Nelson each recorded an assist. Goalkeeper Bethany Sather registered her first shutout of the year, saving all six shot attempts from Napa Valley.

Earlier in the week, Shasta College lost 5-0 to Yuba College. The Knights gave up three goals in the first half and couldn't recover. Yuba's Hylena Perez scored four goals and Estrella Silva added the fifth.

Olivia Smith leads the Knights in goals (3) and points (7) this season while Arnold, Aspen Smith and Reed each had two goals apiece.

Shasta College (2-4) hosts Folsom Lake at 3 p.m. Friday in its only match of the week and it is the Knights' final non-conference match of the year.
