REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College women's basketball team lost 81-42 at home to Butte College and fell to College of the Siskiyous 85-60 on the road last week in Golden Valley Conference action.
Butte 81, Shasta 42
The Knights trailed 47-21 at the half after being outscored 22-5 in the second period. Shasta shot 0 for 6 from 3-point range and gave up 13 3-pointers to Butte while committing 23 turnovers. Graceyn Harlan was the lone Knight to score in double figures with 19 points. She also added nine rebounds. Gigi Velasquez scored eight points and had six rebounds and three assists and Kiley Johnson scored six points off the bench.
Siskiyous 85, Shasta 60
The Knights trailed by three after the opening period but were outscored 53-18 in the middle quarters to suffer a fourth straight defeat. Shasta shot 5 of 28 from downtown with Emma Gaddy knocking down four of those on her way to 15 points. Harlan's double-double with 27 points and 11 rebounds paced Shasta while Bailey Matos chipped in with 14 points, six rebounds and five assists and Velasquez pulled down 11 rebounds in the loss.
Shasta (1-5 GVC, 10-15) hosts Lassen College and Feather River next week.
