PASADENA, Calif. – The Shasta College women's basketball team won one out of three games at the Pasadena City College Grand Canyon Crossover Tournament, beating Porterville 60-51 and losing 59-50 to Citrus and 68-38 to Pasadena City.
Shasta 60, Porterville 51
The Knights jumped out to a 20-13 lead after the opening quarter and led 31-22 at half. Emma Gaddy scored 17 points, Ryleigh Hart scored 10 points and had four assists, Gigi Velasquez grabbed a team-best 13 rebounds and Graceyn Harlan scored 13 points off the bench. All 10 Shasta players scored in the game.
Citrus 59, Shasta 50
The Knights trailed 26-17 at half but their 22-12 run in the fourth wasn't enough for the comeback. Shasta made 1 of 10 from 3-point range but all 13 of its foul shots. Velasquez had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, Harlan scored 12 points and had nine rebounds off the bench, Creedence Shaver scored nine points and Bailey Matos scored eight points to go with seven boards.
Pasadena City 68, Shasta 38
The Knights led by one at halftime but was outscored 41-10 in the second half. Shasta shot 2 of 18 from 3-point range and committed 29 turnovers. Harlan's 14 points and nine rebounds paced the Knights while Shaver scored 11 points, Gaddy added nine points and Velasquez contributed nine rebounds.
Shasta (7-6) plays in the San Mateo Tournament this weekend.
