SHASTA WINS 2 AT KNIGHTS CROSSOVER

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's women's basketball team won two out of three games at its Crossover Tournament over the weekend, beating Solano 53-46 and Yuba 68-29 and falling to San Mateo 57-51.

Shasta 53, Solano 46
The Knights led 27-26 at half but used a 17-14 advantage in the final period to hold on for victory on Thursday. Emma Gaddy led the Knights with 19 points and five assists and Ryleigh Hart recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Bailey Matos scored eight points and pulled down six rebounds and Gigi Velasquez scored six points to go with eight rebounds. Shasta held Solano to 0 for 19 shooting from 3-point range.

San Mateo 57, Shasta 51
The Knights were outscored 26-20 in the middle quarters to fall to San Mateo on Friday. Velasquez scored 12 points and pulled down eight rebounds, Creedence Shaver scored 12 points and had seven rebounds and Graceyn Harlan scored 12 points off the bench. Hart scored eight points, had seven rebounds and dished six assists. Velasquez added a team-best five steals.

Shasta 68, Yuba 29
The Knights jumped out to a 19-6 lead after the opening quarter and closed the second half on a 36-13 run. Shasta shot 42 percent (30 of 71) in the game and had four players score in double figures. Gaddy and Matos each scored 11 points and Shaver and Hart totaled 10 points apiece. Hart had a double-double with 10 rebounds, Shaver added eight boards and four steals and Kiley Johnson scored six points and had a team-high 11 rebounds off the bench.

Shasta (6-4) plays in the Grand Canyon Crossover Tournament against Porterville on Thursday, Citrus on Friday and Pasadena City on Saturday.
