KNIGHTS EXTEND WIN STREAK TO FOUR GAMES

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College women's basketball team won both of its contests last week, hammering Yuba College 65-44 on the road before pounding American River 55-23 at home.

Against Yuba, Shasta jumped out to a 20-5 lead after the opening quarter and led 33-11 at half before cruising to a 21-point victory. The Knights collected 15 offensive rebounds and finished outrebounding the 49ers 52-19. Trinity Fernandez was one of four Knights in double figures with a team-best 14 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Amber Wallace had 11 points and six boards, Isabela Padilla scored 10 points to go with eight rebounds, Kaleia Mizuta turned in a team-high five assists and four steals and Creedence Shaver chipped in with 10 points and seven boards off the bench.

In Saturday's matchup against the Beavers, the Knights outscored ARC 34-7 in the second half to pull away for their most lopsided win over the young season. Shasta collected 21 offensive rebounds and won on the boards 52-29 in the game while also collected 13 steals compared to six from the Beavers. Wallace had a double-double with a season-high 23 points to go with 12 rebounds. Padilla scored eight points and grabbed a team-best 15 rebounds, Shaver scored eight points off the bench and Mizuta had seven points and seven rebounds. Fernandez added a team-high seven assists and four steals.

Shasta (4-2) plays at Santa Rosa Thursday, at De Anza on Friday and hosts Marin on Sunday.
