WALLEN LEADS KNIGHT WOMEN TO TWO WINS

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College women's basketball team won both of its road games last week, taking down Monterey Peninsula 70-62 and hammering Hartnell 63-33.

Sophomore Riley Wallen averaged 15 points and 7.5 rebounds across the two games while the Knights had a balanced team effort against Hartnell to get above .500 for the first time so far through the five-game season.

Shasta 70, Monterey 62
Shasta led 37-26 at half and was ahead by 14 points going into the final period. The Knights racked up 14 steals and forced 24 turnovers in the victory. Wallen dropped a career-high 28 points to go with five rebounds to lead Shasta, knocking down 6-of-9 attempts from 3-point range. Megan Collins scored 19 points, dished 10 assists and registered seven steals for a double-double. Isabela Padilla scored eight points and pulled down eight rebounds, Amber Wallace scored eight points to go with 10 boards and Lexi Robbins scored seven points.

Shasta 63, Hartnell 33
The Knights led 35-16 at half and cruised to their most lopsided victory of the season. Shasta's bench accounted for 28 of their 63 points with Jeanna Bucher leading the scoring with 14 points to go with seven rebounds. Wallace had 10 points, Wallen and Padilla grabbed 10 and nine boards, respectively, and Collins scored nine points to go with a team-best four steals. Robbins dished a game-high seven assists.

Shasta (3-2) plays at De Anza on Wednesday and at Marin on Thursday.
