SHASTA FALLS TO REDWOODS 83-61, MISSES PLAYOFFS

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College women's basketball team lost to College of the Redwoods 83-61 on the road Wednesday in the final game of the year.

The Knights were not selected to make the CCCAA State Playoffs, finishing 14-13 overall and last place in the Golden Valley Conference with a 2-8 record. The other five GVC teams made the 18-team playoff.

Against Redwoods, Shasta trailed by seven at half and was outscored 30-8 in the third period. Megan Collins led the Knights in scoring with 21 points to go with eight assists, eight steals and six rebounds. Jenna Wallace added 19 points and seven rebounds and Riley Wallen chipped in with eight rebounds and six assists. Kali Cummings scored nine points.

Shasta shot 5-of-18 (28 percent) from 3-point range compared to Redwoods' 12-of-31 (39 percent) in the game.

Wallace led the Knights in scoring with 19.6 points per game, which ranked 11th in the state. Her 547 points ranked sixth in the state and her 212 field goals made was also sixth. She added 16 double-doubles on the year. She also led the team in rebounds with 9.6 per game.

Collins finished the year with per game averages of 13.6 points, 5.3 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 2.9 steals. Her 142 assists were 11th in the state.

Wallen ended the year averaging 13.0 points per game, 9.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. Cummings averaged 9.7 points per game.

Shasta finished 12th in the state in 3-pointers attempted per game (26.7), 13th in 3-poiners made per game (7.5) and 11th in assists per game (17).
