BUTTE VALLEY, Calif. – The Shasta College women's basketball team suffered its third straight loss with an 80-54 road defeat at Butte College Saturday.
The Knights had 22 turnovers while the Roadrunners, ranked seventh in the CCCWBA North Region Poll last week, made 13-of-39 shots from 3-point range. Shasta trailed 27-18 after the opening quarter and was outscored 24-8 in the final period.
Shasta was led by freshman Jenna Wallace, who scored a team-best 27 points and pulled down seven rebounds in the losing effort. Megan Collins contributed 10 points, eight rebounds, five steals and four assists and Riley Wallen scored seven points.
Shasta's bench was outscored 18-0 in the game.
Butte had four players in double figures, led by Samantha Caires' 16 points.
Wallace ranks first in the state in field goals made, second in points (418) and free throw percentage (88.1) and 10th in points per game (19.9).
The Knights drop to 0-3 in Golden Valley Conference play and 12-8 overall and host College of the Redwoods on Saturday at 3 p.m.
