Knights finish non-conference by winning Gavilan Crossover

Shasta heads into GVC play 12-5 overall

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Shasta College's women's basketball team won both games at the Gavilan Crossover Tournament over the weekend, beating Gavilan 76-67 and Cabrillo 69-50.

Freshman Jenna Wallace had one double-double in the two games while averaging 22 points and 13.5 rebounds in the crossover while Megan Collins averaged 18.5 points in the two games.

Shasta 76, Gavilan 67
The Knights used a 24-point third-quarter output to lead 55-39 entering the fourth period and held on to win. Collins led the way in scoring for Shasta with 22 points to go with eight rebounds, Wallace scored 20 points and grabbed eight boards, Riley Wallen registered a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds and Kali Cummings scored 10 points. Jamie Larson grabbed 10 rebounds in the game.

Shasta 69, Carbillo 50
The Knights led by 20 entering the fourth quarter thanks to outscoring Cabrillo 45-29 in the middle quarters. Wallace dropped 23 points and grabbed 19 rebounds for a double-double while Collins scored 15 points and dished eight assists and Cummings chipped in with 12 points. Wallen tallied eight points and eight rebounds in the win. 

Shasta wraps up non-conference play at 12-5 overall and hosts College of the Siskiyous Wednesday in the Golden Valley Conference opener at 7 p.m.
