BURKE SETS SCHOOL HIGH JUMP RECORD, KNIGHTS WIN 10 EVENTS

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College men's and women's track and field team won nine events at the Cody Beaumont Invite on Saturday at Shasta College.

The Knight women won six of the eight events the team competed in with sophomore Alyssa Burke winning three of them. Burke set the school high jump record with a jump of 5 feet, 8.5 inches. She also won the long jump and triple jump.

The Shasta men won four events with Shawn Scribner, Caleb Rowe and the 4x400 Relay Team capturing event victories. Combined, the Knights had 34 top five finishes.

WOMEN

200 meters: Zoey Bishop won in 26.48 seconds.

800 meters: Grace Southern won in 2:22.43.

1,500 meters: Alyssa Escobar was fourth in 8:08.08.

100 hurdles: Sydney Perkins was second in 17.21.

High Jump: Burke won with a jump of 5-8.5.

Pole Vault: Perkins won with a height of 10-11.75 while Matteya Ruiz was second (10-6).

Long Jump: Burke won with a jump of 18-0.5 and Ruiz was third (14-11.25).

Triple Jump: Burke won with a jump of 38-0.25 and Ruiz was second in 31-11.5

MEN

100 meters: Tyler Carey was second in 11.19, Kenyon Riley was fourth (11.26), Jayden Gordon was fifth (11.49) and Brock Fischer was sixth (11.52).

200 meters: Carey was third in 22.62 and Bradley Murray was sixth (24.35).

800 meters: Jacob Garrett was second in 1:59.66 and Marcus Francescut was fourth (2:07.45).

1,500 meters: Francescut was second (4:19.58) and Isaiah Wilson was ninth (6:10.16).

110 hurdles: Fisher won in 15.21.

4x400 Relay Team: Shasta's team of Francescut, Caleb Rowe, Garrett and Jeshua Wilkinson won in 3:57.18.

High Jump: Murray was third with a jump of 5-6.

Pole Vault: Aaron Young was second (12-6) and Chad Cooper was third (11-6.25).

Long Jump: Shawn Scribner won with a jump of 21-1.75, Rowe was second (19-11.75) and Young was third (19-4). Wilkinson was sixth (16-8.75).

Trip Jump: Rowe won with a distance of 44-3.25 and Scribner was third (43-3.75).

Shot Put: Jonathan Wilson was second (38-3.5) and Davis Murphy was fifth (34-10.5).

Discus: Murphy was fifth (111-6) and Wilson was sixth (104-3).

Hammer: Murphy was fifth (102-0) and Wilson was sixth (100-4).

Javelin: Gordon was second (141-0), Gavin Dobson was third in 138-4, Young was seventh and Garrett was eighth (110-4) and Wilson was 10th (103-7).
