BURKE LEADS KNIGHTS AT CHICO STATE MEET

CHICO, Calif. – Shasta College's men's and women's track and field teams competed against NCAA Division I, II, NAIA and junior colleges at the Chico State Distance Carnival and Twilight over the weekend.

Knights' freshman Alyssa Burke bested the field by winning the triple jump with a mark of 37 feet, 2.25 inches. The Knights had eight top 10 finishes for the men and one for the women.

Shasta College is at the Raider Invite at Southern Oregon University on Friday at 11 a.m.

MEN'S RESULTS

Running: Shasta's 4x100-meter Relay Team of Carson Marx, Kenyon Riley, Ivan Smith and Dy'Shone Hayes was eighth 44.07 seconds. Hayes was sixth in the 100-meter dash (11.11 seconds) and 17th in the 200 (22.72), Riley was 15th in the 200 (22.68) and 16th in the 400 (51.68) and Brock Fisher was fifth in the 110 hurdles (15.32).

Field: Erik Valdez was 10th in the pole vault (13-4.5).

Throwing: Cole Parker was third in the javelin (169-9) and 10th in the shot put (44-9.75), Aedan Slack was seventh in the hammer throw (142-2), 18th in the discus (123-1), Ian Montague was 10th in the discus (133-5), Jim Mogen was 18th in the shot put (42-1.25) and 20th in the hammer throw (114-4) and Hoku-Lani Wickard was 19th in the javelin (116-10).

WOMEN'S RESULTS

Running: Kayla Bowden was 21st in the 100 (14.01) and 29th in the 100 hurdles, Alia Sager was 24th in the 100 (14.33) and 30th in the 100 hurdles (18.65) and Lauren Garcia Gomez was 29th in the 100 (15.27). Shalene Cobb was 18th in the 400 (1:10.06).

Field: Burke won the triple jump (37-2.25) and was 11th in the long jump (16-0.5). Jenna Hodges was 10th in the triple jump (33-2.5) and 13th in the long jump (15-9) and Shalene Cobb was 12th in the triple jump (30-7.75).

Throwing: Alyson Zuidema was 26th in the hammer throw (97-2), Emmaline Forrester was 27th in the discus (83-4) and Gabby Castillo was 28th in the hammer throw (70-6).
