KNIGHT WOMEN SECOND, MEN THIRD AT BUTTE MEET

MARYSVILLE, Calif. – The Shasta College women's track and field team finished second and the men took third in the season-opening meet of the year at the Butte College 4-hour meet at Yuba College.

The Knight men won three events and collected 129.49 points while the women also won three events and totaled 123.5 points. The Butte men (166 points) and women (138 points) won the team portion.

WOMEN

Ally Burke tied for first in the high jump with a mark of 5 feet, 3.75 inches, Maddison Smedley won the pole vault at a height of 7 feet, 3 inches and the Shasta 4x100 Relay Team finished first in 53.58 seconds.

Kayla Bowden placed in the top three in three events, taking second in the 200 (29.68), third in the 100 (14.27) and third in the 100 hurdles (19.44). Other running event finishers included Alia Sager taking fourth in the 100 hurdles (20.33), Savanna Sanderson finishing third in the 400 (1:19.13) and Shasta's 4x400 Relay Team took second (5:09.88) to Butte by 22 seconds.

For field events, Kylanna Bluford was second in the long jump with a mark of 15-10.25. Burke took third in the long jump (15-7) and Shianne Carpenter was seventh in the long jump (12-8).

In the throwing events, Emmaline Forrester was fifth in the shot put (30-3), eighth in the discus (82-10) and 10th in the hammer throw (59-10). Alyson Zuidema was fifth in the hammer throw (78-11), seventh in the discus (86-9), seventh in the javelin 69-5, and ninth in the shot put (26-9). Gabby Castillo was seventh in the hammer throw (65-0) and eighth in the javelin (65-5).

Cross-sports competitor Jenna Hodges was second in the 100-yard dash (14.26) and fifth in the long jump (14-10.5).

MEN

The three event winners were Cody Beaumont in the long jump (20-6.25), Cole Parker winning the javelin throw (165-3) and Brock Fisher winning the 110 hurdles in 16.20 seconds.

For running events, Kenyon Riley was third in the 200 (23.41), sixth in the 100-yard dash (11.71), Avery Grady was third in the 800 (2:09.74) and fourth in the 1,500 (4:26.51), Beaumont was eighth in the 200 (24.65), Isiah Stanford was eighth in the 400 (1:01.09), and Shasta's 4x100 Relay Team was third in 44.22 and the 4x400 Relay Team was second in 3:52.28.

In jumping events, Connor Nix, Joseph Williams and Aaron Young each tied for second in the pole vault with a mark of 11-5.75. Erik Valdez was fifth in the pole vault (10-11.75). Bradley Murray was sixth in the high jump (5-6) and ninth in the long jump (17-10.75).

The throwers were led by Parker, who was third in the shot put (46-3.25) and third in the discus (128-6) beyond winning the javelin. Ian Montague was fourth in the discus (127-10), Payton Harrell was sixth in the discus (126-0) and seventh in the shot put (37-10.75), and Jim Mogen was sixth in the shot put (39-10.5).

Shasta College is back in action on Saturday at the Beaver Relays at American River College.
