Kenny Rupp, 2023-24 Shasta College Athlete of the Year

Kenny Rupp is a 2023 graduate of Trinity High School. In his senior year, he was recognized Northern Section CIF Male Swimmer of the Year, Trinity High School Male Athlete of the Year, Record Searchlight Scholar Athlete finalist, and Superintendent's Honor Role (above 4.0 gpa).

 

Prior to attending Shasta College, Kenny became an "Eagle Scout". In addition, he was a recipient of James Burgess Memorial Scholarship - for law enforcement, Dean Addison Memorial Scholarship- for citizenship and leadership, Weaverville Lions Scholarship- citizenship and leadership, plus 3 others for involvement in school activities and moral character. He was also the ASB - Class Vice President, Treasurer, & Rally Commissioner.

 

His first year at Shasta College he remained undefeated throughout Conference Season. Setting three new Team Records and being selected as the Central Valley Conference Male Swimmer of the Year. At the CCCAA State Championships, he placed fifth in the 200 Backstroke, sixth in the 200 Freestyle, and ninth in the 500 Freestyle. He also participated on four relay teams with teammates Ryan Kupsky, Chan Lee, and Gavin Kitchen. This is an incredible feat for any able body male, but Kenny did it with a broken ankle.

 

In conclusion, Kenny is considered one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and highly respected by all his teammates. While continuing to work on his AA at Shasta College, he is also a Redding Police Department Cadet. Kenny had a great experience this year at Shasta College and is looking forward to his sophomore year.
