REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College softball team wrapped up the 2018 regular season with wins in four of its last six games, sweeping doubleheaders against Folsom Lake College and Lassen College before dropping two games to Butte College.

Shasta beat Folsom Lake 15-2 and 6-5, edged Lassen 3-2 and 9-2, and dropped a pair of one-run games to Butte 5-4 and 10-9.

The Knights end the season third in the Golden Valley Conference with a 10-10 record and 21-15 overall.

Tara George was 13 for 23 in the final six games with five runs and three RBIs while Alison Lee was 12 for 23 with eight runs scored and an RBI.

Shasta 15-6, Folsom Lake 2-5

Reilly Rupert got the five-inning victory in the opener, allowing two runs on eight hits. The Knights racked up 17 hits in the game with Lee leading the way, going 3 for 5 with a double and two RBIs. Haylee Sobrero was 2 for 4 with her sixth home run of the year, two RBIs and three runs, Erica Parent was 2 for 5 with two RBIs and two runs; Lindsey Beck was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs; Marissa Hopkins drove in two runs; and George was 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs.

In the nightcap, Shasta scored in the top of the eighth for the win, helping Maddie Steppat earn the victory in relief. Steppat struck out two and allowed a hit in two scoreless frames while Lee gave up four earned runs on 10 hits in six innings as the starter. Parent was the only Knight with a multi-hit game, going 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Sobrero was 1 for 4 with a double, an RBI and two runs; and George and Paige Mitchell each had an RBI.

Shasta 3-9, Lassen 2-2

The Knights scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to walk-off with a 3-2 win in the first game of the doubleheader. Rupert got the win, striking out four, walking none and allowing one run on eight hits. George had three of Shasta's six hits, going 3 for 4 with two RBIs.

Shasta used a three-run first and a four-run fourth to pull away to extend its winning streak to six games. Lee struck out three, walked two and allowed one run on two hits in four innings while Steppat fanned three, walked none and allowed one run on two hits in three frames of relief. Lee was 3 for 4 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs; Sobrero was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs; George was 3 for 4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs; and Mitchell drove in a run and scored once.

Butte 5-10, Shasta 4-9

The Knights scored three in the sixth to tie it before surrendering the go-ahead run in the seventh. Parent was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Sobrero had a double and two RBIs, Mitchell was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run, and Destinee Baird and Beck each had a hit and scored once.

In the final game of the season, the Knights scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to extend the game. Butte scored twice in the 10th and Shasta could only get one back before falling at home. Lee took the loss, giving up 10 runs – four earned – on 15 hits in a complete game. She struck out four and walked two. She was also 4 for 6 at the plate with a double and three runs. George was 4 for 5 with two RBIs and a run, and Hopkins was 1 for 5 with a run.
