REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's softball team rebounded from a five-game losing streak by winning five out of its past six games, sweeping College of the Redwoods and College of the Siskiyous, and splitting a doubleheader with Butte College.
The Knights are 15-11 and 6-6 in Golden Valley Conference play and play back-to-back doubleheaders at Feather River Friday and hosts Redwoods Saturday.
Shasta 2-6, Redwoods 1-4
The Knights opened the week by beating the Corsairs 2-1 and 6-4. Reilly Rupert struck out six, walked four, and allowed one unearned run on two hits for a complete-game win. Alison Lee was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Lindsey Beck was 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Tara George was 1 for 3 with a run.
In the nightcap, Shasta's Rupert struck out four, walked three, and allowed four unearned runs on seven hits. Lee was 2 for 4, Destinee Baird was 2 for 3 with a solo home run, Erica Holland scored twice and Eric Parent drove in a run.
Shasta 0-7, Butte 0-6
Shasta lost to Butte 6-0 and beat the Roadrunners 7-6. The Knights only had two hits in the game, one each from Holland and Beck. Rupert got the loss after striking out two and walked one while allowing six earned runs on 10 hits.
The Knights rallied from a 6-0 deficit in the second inning by scraping across runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to win by one. Rupert gave up six runs on 12 hits to earn the win. Lee was 3 for 4 with three runs, George was 3 for 4 with an RBI, Kayla Gaw was 1 for 2 with a double and two RBIs, and Beck and Parent each had a hit and an RBI.
Shasta 7-11, Siskiyous 2-6
The Knights won 7-2 and 11-6 to complete the sweep of the Eagles. Rupert gave up one earned run on six hits and struck out six to earn the complete-game win. George was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a run, Haylee Sobrero was 2 for 2 with three runs, Marissa Hopkins was 2 for 3, Beck was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, Parent had a double, and Gaw was 2 for 3 with two runs.
Shasta won the second game 11-6 as Rupert picked up the win again to move to 10-4 on the season. She allowed two runs on three hits in 4.1 innings. Lee was 4 for 5 with two doubles and three RBIs, Holland was 4 for 4 with a double, three RBIs and three runs, Hopkins was 2 for 2 with a run, and Gaw and Parent each had a hit and an RBI.
