SHASTA COLLEGE MEN’S SOCCER DROPS TWO MATCHES

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College freshman forward Kevin Meza more than doubled his scoring output last week but the Knights are still searching for their first victory of the season.

Last week, Shasta fell 3-0 to Yuba College on Tuesday and 6-2 to Napa Valley in the home opener on Friday to fall to 0-4 on the season.

Against Yuba, Meza had the lone Shasta shot on goal in the game and goalkeeper Jordan Christian had 14 saves.

In the defeat to Napa Valley, Meza scored twice on four shots, one of them assisted by Mason Jensen. The Knights scored in the 37th minute and the 71st minute. Christian had 13 saves in the loss.

Meza has scored three of the Knights four goals this season with the other coming from Christopher Gluyas, which came against Gavilan on Sept. 8. So far, Samuel Elwood has an assist on the year.

Shasta (0-4-0) hosts Mendocino Tuesday at 4 p.m. and plays at Ohlone College in Fremont on Friday at 4 p.m.
