KNIGHTS EXTENDING WINNING STREAK TO THREE GAMES

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College men's basketball team won both Golden Valley Conference road games last week, beating Lassen College 75-55 on Wednesday and Feather River College 75-67 on Saturday.

The Knights have won three straight to climb to second place in the GVC standings, one game behind College of the Redwoods, which Shasta beat to start the winning streak.

The Knights put up 43 points in the first half and got 22 points from their bench, led by Simmer Singh's 13 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Zach Thompson scored a team-best 19 points, Tanner Bidwell scored 14 points and Michael Plunkitt scored nine points and dished four assists.

Shasta shot 22-of-33 (67 percent) on 2-point field goals in the game, won the turnover battle 17-12 and had more than double the assists as the Cougars (15-7).

The Knights beat the Golden Eagles for the third time in four meetings this season with four players scoring in double figures. Shasta led 34-30 at half and forced Feather River to turn the ball over 23 times in the game. Shasta also shot 13-of-29 (45 percent) from 3 in the game.

Singh paced Shasta with 21 points and added seven rebounds, Thompson scored 13 points and Derek Gorden and Bidwell each tallied 10 points. Gorden's eight rebounds was a team-high while Bidwell grabbed seven boards and Plunkitt added eight points, seven assists and five steals. Adam Shoff scored six points off the bench.

Shasta is 4-2 in GVC and 13-11 overall and hosts rival Butte College on Wednesday this week before going on the road to College of the Siskiyous on Saturday.
