KNIGHTS END SEASON WITH 102-78 LOSS AT LASSEN COLLEGE

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College men's basketball team lost the final game of the season to Lassen College 102-78 on Wednesday.

Shasta College ended the regular season 7-18 overall and 5-5 in Golden Valley Conference play, finishing fourth in the conference standings.

The Knights trailed 47-36 at halftime and couldn't recover, allowing a season-high points in the defeat. Shasta won the turnover battle 21-10 but was outrebounded 50-29 and Lassen shot 12 of 26 from 3-point land and 38 of 69 (55 percent) from the floor.

Freshman Zach Thompson led the way for the Knights with 19 points while Brendan Hoag added 14 points and five rebounds. Ten of the 11 Knights that saw the floor scored in the game.

Michael Plunkitt scored nine points, dished nine assists and grabbed four steals, Tanner Bidwell scored nine points off the  bench and Elijah Ramirez's seven boards led the Knights.

Thompson led Shasta in scoring with 250 points (10.0 average) while lone sophomore Tanner Guinn scored 240 points (also a 10.0 average). Both players made team-high 40 3-pointers.

Plunkitt's 131 assists (6.0 per game) and 54 steals (2.5 per game) were by far team-highs and Corey Busta pulled down 101 rebounds (4.0 per game). Freshman Jalen Evans led the Knights in rebounds per game with 5.8 before suffering a knee injury.
