SHASTA COLLEGE LOSES TO BUTTE 76-69

BUTTE VALLEY, Calif. – The Shasta College men's basketball team was outscored by 11 points in the second half to lose 76-69 to Butte College on the road Saturday night.

The Knights led at half 37-33 but went cold shooting in the second half to fall, despite winning the turnover battle (10-9) and shooting better from 3-point range (41 percent on seven made to 33 percent).

Sophomore Tanner Guinn led the way with 18 points while freshmen Jalen Evans scored 10 points and Zach Thompson and Michael Plunkitt each scored nine points. Freshmen Elijah Ramirez and Brendan Hoag chipped in with eight points apiece while Plunkitt's eight assists and six rebounds led the Knights.

Butte's Eric Boose scored a game-high 27 points.

Shasta falls to 1-1 in Golden Valley Conference play and 3-14 overall and hosts Lassen College on Wednesday before going to College of the Siskiyous Saturday.
