BOWEN POWERS SHASTA IN SWEEP OF LASSEN TO END SEASON

SUSANVILLE, Calif. – The Shasta College baseball team wrapped up the regular season with a 22-16 and 15-13 doubleheader road sweep of Lassen College.

Shasta's Shea Bowen hit three home runs in the opening game and went 6 of 11 with four home runs, 12 RBIs and earned a win on the mound.

Shasta 22, Lassen 16
The Knights' 10-run fourth inning was highlighted by Bowen's two-run homer, Keanu Mizuta's two-run double and Mario Hernandez's three-run triple. Bowen finished the game 4 of 5 with three home runs, eight RBIs and six runs while also drawing two walks. Mizuta was 3 for 5 with two doubles, four RBIs and two runs, Giacomo Crosetti was 3 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and a run, Julian Esqueda was 3 for 6 with an RBI and three runs, AJ Davies scored four times, Stephen Nelson was 2 for 5 with two RBIs and Hernandez was 2 for 5 with a double, triple, three RBIs and three runs. Gavin Guard got the win, striking out three and walking two while allowing three runs on six hits in four innings.

Shasta 16, Lassen 13
The Knights gave up five runs in the bottom of the ninth but held off the Cougars for the win in the final game of the season. Shasta hit four home runs, one each from Bowen, Crosetti, Esqueda and Joaquin Medina. Esqueda was 4 for 6 with an RBI and three runs, Noah Weaver was 4 for 6 with two doubles and three RBIs, Medina was 3 for 5 with a double and three runs, Bowen was 2 for 6 with a double, four RBIs and three runs, Mizuta was 2 for 6 with a double and three RBIs and Crosetti was 2 for 6 with three runs. Bowen struck out seven, walked three and gave up four runs on eight hits in 6.2 innings to earn the win. Tysson Unciano struck out the only batter he faced to pick up the save.

Shasta finishes the regular season 13-12 in Golden Valley Conference play and 21-19 overall. It's the first winning season for the Knights since 2013 and the first time the Knights finished with a winning record in conference play in 2016.
