SHASTA DOWNS YUBA, WINS SKYLINE SERIES

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's baseball team edged Yuba College 9-7 on Tuesday before winning two of three games against Skyline, taking the first 16-10 and the second 7-5 before losing the third 10-2.

Shasta 9, Yuba 7
Shasta's Drew Reynolds crushed a three-run home run and Keanu Mizuta followed with a solo homer for the Knights to go back-to-back in the second inning to jump ahead 7-3. Mizuta was 2 for 3 with two runs, Joaquin Medina was 2 for 5 with a double and two RBIs, Shea Bowen was 2 for 5 with a double and a run and AJ Davies had an RBI and scored a run. Gavin Guard got the win in relief, throwing two scoreless innings. Shea Bowen got the save after allowing a solo home run in the ninth inning.

Shasta 16, Skyline 10
The Knights used an eight-run sixth inning to pull ahead for good. Bowen's RBI double gave Shasta a 9-8 lead and the Knights padded it behind a two-run doubles from Mizuta, an RBI triple from Stephen Nelson and a two-run home run from Medina. Shasta totaled 18 hits with six players turning in multi-hit games: Reynolds was 3 for 4 with a double, home run, four RBIs, Giacomo Crosetti was 3 for 5 with an RBI, Jude Marquez was 3 for 4 with four RBIs and three runs, Bowen was 2 for 5 with a double, triple and three runs, Hayes Edens was 2 for 5 with two runs, Davies was 2 for 4 with a run. Jeremy Carroll-Schneider got the win after striking out four and walking none while tossing 3.2 scoreless innings of relief.

Shasta 7, Skyline 5
Marquez's two-run double gave the Knights the lead for good while Mizuta and Edens each had a sacrifice fly to give the Knights a cushion. Cade Jacobson struck out four, walked one and allowed four earned runs on seven hits in five innings to get the win. Guard got the save, tossing two scoreless innings of relief. Marquez was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, Edens was 2 for 3 with an RBI, Nelson had a triple and scored once and Crosetti had a double and scored a run.

Skyline 10, Shasta 2
Peyton Russell took the loss as Shasta snapped a six-game winning streak. Russell struck out three and allowed two earned runs on three hits in five innings. The Knights managed three hits, a single apiece from Bowen, Reynolds and Hunter Pinkston. Reynolds had an RBI.

Shasta moves to 7-3 on the season.
