KNIGHTS SWEPT BY FEATHER RIVER AT HOME

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College baseball team lost a Golden Valley Conference home doubleheader to Feather River 7-6 and 5-4 over the weekend.

Giacomo Crosetti had five hits across the two games, going 5 for 8 with a pair of RBIs to lead the Knight offense.

Feather River 7, Shasta 6
The Knights surrendered five runs in the top of the first but managed to pull within one run with a three-run fifth highlighted by Crosetti and Stephen Nelson's RBI singles. Ethan Williams led Shasta at the plate going 3 for 5 with three runs, Crosetti was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run and Keanu Mizuta drove in three runs.

Shasta starter Jay Mendez took the loss, walking four and giving up five runs on three hits in 0.2 innings. Kaden Nicholes, Alex Alvarez, Chase Rossman and Tysson Unciano combined to give up two runs on six hits the rest of the game.

AJ Davies' two-run double in the third gave Shasta 3-2 lead but Feather River took it back with a run each in the fourth and fifth innings. Shasta tied it in the sixth no Nelson's bunt single but the Golden Eagles scored on a sac fly in the ninth to provide the difference maker. Crosetti was 3 for 4, Nelson was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run and Noah Weaver was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run.

Shasta starting pitcher Payton Jeffries earned a no decision after string out four, walking five and giving up two earned runs in five hits in five innings. Ryan Rudd took the loss, allowing one earned run on two hits in 1.2 innings of relief.

Shasta (1-4 GVC, 6-12) hosts College of the Siskiyous Friday at 2 p.m. and plays a doubleheader the following day on Saturday starting at noon.
