SHASTA SWEEPS FOUR-GAME SERIES VS. REDWOODS

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's baseball team swept College of the Redwoods in all four games last week, winning a home doubleheader 12-2 and 9-5 on Thursday and winning both road games Saturday 8-2 and 11-8.

The Knights evened their record at 11-11 on the season. Shasta hosts Lassen for a doubleheader on Thursday at noon and hosts College of the Siskiyous for a doubleheader Saturday at noon. Andrew John was 5 for 9 with five RBIs in three of the four games he played, extending his hitting streak to eight games while Dylan Foster, Max Nebel and Brady Munson each pitched their way to a complete-game victory on the week.

THURSDAY

Pitching led the way on the day with Dylan Foster striking out seven and walking two while allowing two runs on three hits in his seven-inning complete-game victory. Shasta blew the game open with five-run first highlighted by John's two-run triple and a five-run third inning behind Jaden Gorge's two-run double.

Mason Wood was 3 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs, Payton Jeffries was 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, AJ Davies was 2 for 4 with a run and Gorge was 1 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs.

In the nightcap, Keanu Mizuta's RBI double followed by John's RBI triple put the Knights ahead 2-0 after one. Shasta stretched its lead to 6-2 in the fourth with a two-run single from John and Jeffries' two-run single in the sixth allowed the Knights to pull away.

Jay Mendez got the win after allowing two earned runs on seven hits in five innings. He struck out two and walked three. Justin Purdom earned the save with two runs on three hits across two innings of relief.

SATURDAY

Max Nebel earned a complete-game win on the road in the opener, striking out three and walking two while allowing two runs on six hits across seven frames. Nicholas Newton had a pair of two-run doubles and Gorge had a two-RBI double in the game. John was 2 for 3 with two runs, Gary Molina was 2 for 3 with two runs, Jeffries was 1 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs.

In the second game, Brady Munson struck out six and allowed four earned runs on 12 hits to earn the complete-game victory. The Knights blew the game open with a six-run third inning, highlighted by CJ Wick's two-run single, Derek Ray's RBI triple and Griffin Williams' RBI double. Ray was 2 for 4 with two runs, Mario Hernandez was 1 for 2 with a double, an RBI and a run, Williams was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a run and Shane Taylor and Joe Fox each scored twice.
