KNIGHTS BEAT SAC CITY FOR FIRST WIN

FOLSOM LAKE, Calif. – Shasta College's beach volleyball team won its first match in program history, sweeping Sacramento City College 5-0. The Knights followed it up by losing 5-0 to host Folsom Lake.

In the first matchup, Shasta's Shawnee Church and Emerie Brown beat Shackelford/Rylander 21-18, 21-13. At No. 2 pairs, Emmarae Westphal and Jacie Clavelle beat Somera/LaDouceur 21-13, 21-11. In the No. 3 pairs, Brooke Vaughan and Emma Mangini beat Crawford/Castellano 21-25, 21-14. The Knights earned forfeit wins at No. 4 and 5 pairs for the match victory.

Against Folsom, Brown and Church lost in three sets to Natusch/Seabury at No. 1 pairs. In the No. 2 matchup, Clavelle/Westphal lost 21-15, 25-17 to Boldyreva/McKenchie. At No. 3 pairs, Jones/Tataryn defeated Mangini and Vaughan 21-28, 11-21, 15-9. In No. 4 pairs, Johnson and Watts defeated Hannah Martins and Adyson Wright 21-12, 22-20. Shasta forfeited at No. 5 pairs.
