GRADY, CLARKSON RECORD SEASON-BEST TIMES AT THINK PINK

REDDING, Calif. – The Knights had three cross-country competitors at their own NorCal Preview Think Pink October meet Friday at Shasta College.

Shasta College freshman Avery Grady, finished 37th overall and completing the 4-mile course in 21 minutes, 54.8 seconds. Grady's average mile was 5:28.7, which is his season-best mark among the four events. Shasta freshman Jonathan Harrison was 115th in 31:17.4, with an average mile of 7:49.4.

Shasta freshman Elizabeth Clarkson, the only women's competitor for the Knights, ran the 3-mile course in 23:38.8, taking 66th place with an average mile of 7:36.6. That is Clarkson's season-best average mile, besting her previous mark of 8:01.2 set at the Toro Park Invite on Sept. 28.

Johnny Vargas of Santa Rosa was the top finisher for the men's in 20:30.9 and the top women's competitor was Hartnell's Monica Ruelas in 18:08.6.

In team scores, Hartnell won the meet for the women with 21 points, followed by De Anza (100) and Santa Rosa (101). For the men's scores, American River won with 52 points, followed by Hartnell (63) and Cuesta (107).

Shasta College did not field a full team to compete for the team scores.

The Knights are in action on Friday at the Butte College Invitational with the women running at 3:30 p.m. followed by the men at 4:30 p.m.
