MARYSVILLE, Calif. – The Shasta College women's track and field team finished third and the Knight men were fourth at the Golden Valley Conference Championships at Yuba College in Marysville last week.
The Knights collected four event victories from three competitors. Brock Fisher won the men's the 110-meter hurdles and Cole Parker captured the men's javelin throw. Aly Burke won the women's high jump and triple jump.
Shasta women collected nine Top 3 finishes and totaled 45 points behind Yuba (86 points) and Butte (56), respectively. Siskiyous (44), Redwoods (38) and Feather River (25) rounded out the women's team totals.
The Shasta men had eight Top 3 finishes and totaled 43 points behind Butte (104), Siskiyous (76) and Redwoods (59), respectively. Yuba was fifth (33 points).
MEN'S RESULTS
Running: Shasta's 4x100 Relay Team of Carson Marx, Kenyon Riley, Brock Fisher and Dy'Shone Hayes was fourth (43.86). Fisher won the 110 hurdles (15.32) and was second in the 400 hurdles (58.20). Hayes was third in the 100 (11.32) and fourth in the 200 (22.84), Riley was third in the 200 (22.83), fifth in the 100 (11.40) and eighth in the 400 (52.22). In the preliminaries, Bradley Murray was 11th in the 100 (11.59), Ivan Smith was 14th in the 100 (11.79), Matthew McCree was 16th in the 200 (24.84) and Roland Black was 21st in the 100 (12.35) and 200 (25.19).
Field: Erik Valdez was third in the pole vault (14-1.25), Marx was fourth in the long jump (20-4.5), Chris Martinez was fourth in the pole vault (13-7.25), Connor Nix was seventh in the pole vault (12-1.5), Aaron Young was eighth in the pole vault (11-7.75) and Joe Williams was 10th in the pole vault (10-8). Murray was sixth in the high jump (5-8.75) and 13th in the long jump (18-0.25), and Theodore Corontzos was seventh in the high jump (5-5) and the triple jump (38-9), and 15th in the long jump (17-2.25).
Throwing: Cole Parker won the javelin throw (175-3), finished fourth in the shot put (46-0.75), ninth in the discus (123-4). Aedan Slack was third in the hammer throw (140-4), Ian Montague was third in the discus (139-1) and ninth in the javelin (134-10), Payton Harrell was fifth in the discus (135-7), sixth in the shot put (43-7.25), Jim Mogen was seventh in the shot put (41-9.25), ninth in the hammer throw (112-11) and 12th in the discus (109-0), and George Fountain was seventh in the javelin (136-7). Hoku-Lani Wickard was 12th in the javelin (120-3) and Nix was 15th in the javelin (100-6).
WOMEN'S RESULTS
Running: Jenna Hodges was third in the 100 (13.44), Elizabeth Clarkson was third in the 5,000 (24:50.53) and fifth in the 1,500 (6:09.55), Shalene Cobb was fifth in the 400 (1:11.03) and the 100 hurdles (18.06), Alia Sager was sixth in the 100 (14.30) and the 100 hurdles (18.23), Savanna Sanderson was seventh in the 400 (1:28.04) and the 800 (3:15.18) and Lauren Garcia Gomez was eighth in the 100 (15.19). Kayla Bowden was third in the 400 hurdles (1:17.86), sixth in the 200 (29.67) and seventh in the 100 hurdles (18.40).
Field: Aly Burke won the high jump (5-7) and the triple jump (38-5.5) and was second in the long jump (18-2.25). Maddison Smedley was third in the pole vault (7-0.25), Hodges was third in the long jump (16-7.25) and fourth in the triple jump (10.29) and Cobb was fifth in the long jump (14-1.25) and triple jump (33-9.25).
Throwing: Hodges was second in the javelin (101-11), Emmaline Forrester was fifth in the shot put (30-11), seventh in the discus (92-9), 11th in the hammer throw (73-4). Alyson Zuidema was fourth in the hammer throw (109-2), seventh in the shot put (29-10.75), eighth in the discus (82-11). Gabby Castillo was eighth in the javelin (21.29), ninth in the hammer throw (83-5), 10th in the shot put (23-8), 11th in the discus (61-4).
