FARBER, HAMMEKE LEAD KNIGHTS AT BUTTE INVITE

OROVILLE, Calif. – Shasta College cross-country runners competed at the Butte Invite on Friday with all four competitors finishing in the top 16 of their respective races.

In the women's 3-mile race, Lauren Farber finished ninth in 25 minutes, 31.1 seconds for an average mile of 8:12.9. Farber was the line Knight competing for the women.

College of the Redwoods was the only full team and had the top runner in Hannah Hartwell, who ran in 18:29.3.

Devon Hammeke was the top Knight finisher for the men, taking 11th in the 4-mile race in 25:56.4 for an average mile time of 6:29.1. Moses Bigelow followed close behind for a 12th place finish in 26:15.9, an average mile of 6:34, and Jonathon Harrison was 16th in 27:50.2 (average of 6:57.6).

Only two schools fielded full teams for the men with Butte (20) edging Redwoods (37). Butte had the top three finishers with Michael Sides winning it in 21:50.9.

Shasta is back in action on Oct. 28 at Butte College for the conference championships.
