KNIGHTS SWEEP AT YUBA CLASSIC

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College volleyball team beat Diablo Valley College in four sets and swept Yuba College during a break in non-conference play at the Yuba Classic. Shasta came back to Golden Valley Conference action and lost to Butte before beating College of the Redwoods to earn its first conference victory.

Against DVC, Shasta won 25-20, 25-21, 20-25, 25-13 behind 17 kills from Emmarae Westphal and 14 kills from Emma Magini. Brooke Vaughan added seven kills and 15 digs in the win while Rose Young dished 27 assists, Jacie Clavelle had 11 assists and Elizabeth Lopez contributed a team-best 21 digs.

The Knights swept host Yuba 25-18, 25-11, 25-12 and recorded 41 kills to the 49ers' 15. Westphal had 17 kills, Vaughan had 11 kills and 14 digs for a double-double and Magini contributed nine kills. Young added 25 assists, Lopez turned in a team-high 20 digs and Clavelle added 15 digs in the win.

Back in Golden Valley Conference action, Shasta lost to Butte in four sets 15-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-20. Westphal contributed eight kills and 16 digs, Vaughan had eight kills and 19 digs and Magini had seven kills. Hannah Martins added six kills while Young had 17 assists and Lopez had 20 digs.

Shasta beat Redwoods in four sets 25-18, 30-32, 25-23, 25-20. The Knights had three players record double-digit kills in the match with Westphal and Magini leading the way with 12 kills and Vaughan added 11 kills. Martins contributed seven kills, Young added 24 assists and Clavelle had 12 assists and 25 digs.
