SHASTA SWEEPS REDWOODS TO END REGULAR SEASON

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College women's volleyball team split on its final week of the regular season, falling to No. 1 Feather River in three sets before sweeping College of the Redwoods on sophomore night on Friday.

The Knights lost to the top-ranked Golden Eagles 25-11, 26-24, 25-9. Kelci Vance led the Knights in kills with five, accounting for one-third of the team's total kills. Emmarae Westphal and Presley Hamilton each turned in three kills while Sarah Ault dished 10 assists and Brooke Vaughan racked up 11 digs. Sarah Peters had a team-best two services aces.

In the regular season finale, the Knights won 25-10, 25-22, 25-13, racking up 39 kills to only seven hitting errors. Hamilton's 11 kills paced Shasta while also adding 15 digs. Ault and Sanaii Cooper each tallied seven kills and Ault added 30 assists and 10 digs. Westphal and Vance each had six kills and Vaughan totaled a team-high 19 digs.

Shasta (13-15) finished the regular season second in the Golden Valley Conference at 8-2, only losing to the state's top-ranked team twice. The Knights rank 18th in the Northern California RPI for state playoff seeding.

The Knights' Vaughan is among the state leaders in several stat categories: second in serve receptions (609) and third in digs (553). Hamilton is 13th in the state in kills (320).
