KNIGHTS TAKE DOWN LASSEN, BUTTE ON ROAD

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's volleyball team won both road matches on the week, outlasting Lassen College in five sets on Wednesday 25-20, 22-25, 25-14, 18-25, 15-11 and sweeping Butte on Friday 25-16, 28-26, 25-23.

The Knights had seven players record a kill and finished with 53 kills. Emmarae Westphal led the way with 14 kills and nine digs while Presley Hamilton had 13 kills, 3.5 blocks and a season-high 30 digs. Sarah Ault had an all-around performance with 32 assists, eight kills, four aces and 14 digs. Kelci Vance chipped in with nine kills and 3.5 blocks, Macey Bunn contributed four blocks and Sanaii Cooper added six kills. Brooke Vaughan had a season-high 42 digs in the victory.

In the sweep of Butte, Shasta registered a season-best .357 hitting percentage, totaling 50 kills to nine errors. Hamilton paced Shasta with 20 kills and 10 digs, Vance had 10 kills, Westphal had eight kills, Sarah Ault registered 42 assists and eight digs and Brooke Vaughan chipped in with 24 digs.

Vaughan ranks third in the state in digs with 523 and 10th in digs per set (5.56) while Hamilton is 12th in the state with 306 kills.

Shasta wraps up the regular season this week with home matches against No. 1 Feather River on Wednesday and Redwoods on Friday.
