ALL-AROUND EFFORT LEADS KNIGHTS PAST SISKIYOUS

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College volleyball team beat visiting College of the Siskiyous in four sets 25-23, 27-25, 23-25, 25-20 Wednesday in its lone match of the week to stay in second place in the Golden Valley Conference standings.

The Knights racked up 49 kills in the match and was led by Presley Hamilton with 16 kills and 15 digs. Emmarae Westphal added 11 kills and a solo block, Kelci Vance had nine kills and two blocks and Sarah Ault turned in an all-around performance with five kills, 39 assists, three aces, 11 digs and 2.5 blocks.

Libero Brooke Vaughan totaled 31 digs, Sanai Cooper pitched in with three kills and a pair of blocks and Sarah Peters contributed 16 digs and three aces in the win.

Shasta's 103 digs in the match is a season-high and the Knights rank 11th in the state in digs with 1,384. Vaughan is fourth in the state with 457 dis and 12th in digs per set with 5.31.

Hamilton's 273 kills are 10th in the state.

Two weeks and four matches remain in the regular season. Shasta goes on the road this week at Lassen College on Wednesday and at Butte College on Friday.
