SHASTA SPLITS IN HOME TOURNAMENT

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College women's basketball team split at its home tournament, beating Merritt 62-41 falling to Napa Valley 53-51 in overtime.

Shasta 62, Merritt 41
The Knights jumped out to a 15-6 lead after the opening period and outscored Merritt 22-8 in the third to pull away. Shasta's Graceyn Harlan scored a team-high 19 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Creedence Shaver recorded a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds, Bailey Matos scored 13 points and Gigi Velasquez chipped in with eight points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Kiley Johnson grabbed five boards off the bench. Shasta held Merritt to 2 of 16 shooting from 3-point range in the game.

Napa Valley 53, Shasta 51 (OT)
Shasta managed two points in the bonus period and couldn't pull out the victory. Harlan dropped 18 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double and Matos scored 15 points and dished six assists to go with five steals. Gaddy and Velasquez each scored eight points.
