FAIRFIELD, Calif. – The No. 17 Shasta College women's basketball team lost to No. 16 Solano 66-63 on Wednesday night in the opening round of the California Community College Athletic Association Northern California Regional playoffs.

The Knights led 50-47 entering the fourth quarter but couldn't hang on to win. Shasta (15-14) outscored the Falcons (18-10) in the middle quarters but the Falcons won the fourth 19-13 to advance to the CCCAA Sweet 16.

"The girls played their hearts out," Shasta coach Jerry Brown said. "I'm really proud of how hard they played and how well they played. But give Solano credit, they just played a little bit better than we did."

Four of the six players that scored for Shasta were in double figures with sophomore Julia Hill leading the way with 18 points. She also added seven rebounds. Sophomore Kilee Hannan scored 16 points, sophomore Aubrie Wall scored 14 points to go with a team-best three steals, and freshman Jordan Martinez scored 11 points and contributed a team-high nine rebounds and four assists.

Shasta was outrebounded 43-28 and shot 6 of 21 from 3-point range (28.6 percent) compared to Solano's 12 of 30 (40 percent) from beyond the arc. Shasta's 22 turnovers were the first time it committed at least 20 in a game since Dec. 8, a stretch of 17 games.

The Knights finished fourth in the GVC standings at 4-6 but earned an at-large playoff spot after being competitive in the preseason.
