KNIGHTS DROP CONFERENCE OPENER

SUSANVILLE, Calif. – Shasta College's women's basketball team lost its Golden Valley Conference opener on Saturday, falling to Lassen College 70-65 on the road.

The Knights outscored the Cougars in each of the third and fourth quarters after trailing 45-31 at halftime. But the deficit was too much to overcome and they couldn't catch the Cougars down the stretch.

Lassen held the edge in shooting percentage (41-35), rebounds (40-29), and turnovers (14-13).

Despite the loss, four Shasta players finished the game scoring in double figures. Sophomore center Julia Hill led the way with 17 points, followed by 12 points apiece from freshman Jordan Martinez and sophomore Aubrie Wall. Sophomore guard Kilee Hannan scored 10 points to go with seven rebounds and a team-best four assists.

Shasta freshman Keeley Tuggle led the team with eight rebounds and freshman Rikki Sherman contributed eight points off the bench.

Lassen's Jocelyn Gandara scored a game-high 24 points in the win.
