SHASTA FOURTH AT OWN TOURNEY

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College opened its own Invitational with a 100-33 win over Mendocino before falling to NorCal's No. 5 Sierra College 58-38 and to San Jose City College 57-56 over the weekend.

Sophomore Aubrie Wall was the lone Knight to score in double figures in each of the three games.

The Knights' 100-point effort in the tournament opener was a season-high and extended their winning streak to four games. Shasta (7-3) had 12 of 13 players score in the game with five in double figures and the bench turned in 53 points to outscore its starters.

Freshman Rikki Sherman led the way with 20 points and six assists off the bench, nailing four 3-pointers in the game, and freshman Kayla Bonomini scored 12 off the bench. Wall scored 15 points, sophomore Kilee Hannan scored 14 points, sophomore Julia Hill scored nine points, and freshman Sheleah Stephens pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.

Against Sierra – NorCal's No. 5 ranked team – Shasta trailed 31-14 at half and scored single digits in each of the first three quarters. Wall scored 11 points Stephens added 10 points and eight rebounds, and Hannan contributed five points and seven boards.

In the third place game, Shasta fell to San Jose by one point. The Knights trailed 48-43 entering the final quarter after giving up a 25-point third period. Stephens scored a team-high 14 points, Wall added 10 points, Bonomini pitched in with 10 points off the bench, and freshman Jordan Martinez registered a season-best 11 assists. Freshman Keeley Tuggle pulled down nine rebounds.

Shasta plays in the Solano Tournament on Friday.
