BONOMINI LEADS KNIGHTS TO THIRD STRAIGHT WIN

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's women's basketball team beat College of Marin 57-48 at home on Saturday for its third straight win.

The Knights (6-1) trailed 16-8 after the opening quarter but overcame their slow start by outscoring the Mariners 17-4 in the second period.

Freshman Kayla Bonomini was the lone Shasta player in double figures, scoring 15 points off the bench, fueled by three 3-pointers.

The Knights totaled 28 points from its bench in the game, getting nine points on a trio of 3s from freshman Rikki Sherman, and six rebounds from freshman Sheleah Stephens.

Freshman Jordan Martinez led the Shasta starters with nine points, sophomore Julia Hill scored seven points, freshman Keeley Tuggle pulled down a team-best seven rebounds and sophomore Kilee Hannan chipped in with five points and five boards.

Shasta opens the Shasta College Invitational against Mendocino Thursday at 5:30 p.m. The tournament also features Butte College, San Jose City College, Fresno City College, College of the Redwoods, and Sierra College. Shasta beat Mendocino 55-35 in the season-opener.
