KNIGHTS WIN 8 EVENTS AT BUTTE FIELD DAY

MARYSVILLE, Calif. – Shasta College's track and field team won eight events – four men and four women – at the Butte College Field Day Saturday.

Leading the way was freshman Alyssa Burke, who won three events on her own. Burke captured the high jump, long jump and triple jump for the Knights. The other event win from the women came from sophomore Maddison Smedley, who won the pole vault.

The men had four individual winners with Cole Parker (javelin), Bradley Murray (high jump), Carson Marx (long jump) and Aedan Slack (hammer throw).

Shasta is scheduled to be at the Chico State Distance Carnival on Friday.

WOMEN RESULTS
Jumping:
Burke won the high jump (5 feet, 2.25 inches), the long jump (17-6.25) and triple jump (37-10), and Smedley won the pole vault (7-6.5). Jenna Hodges was second in the long jump (16-9.25) and third in the triple jump (34-2.25), Kylanna Bluford was fourth in the triple jump (33-6), fifth in the long jump (15-10.25), and Shalene Cobb was fifth in the triple jump (32-2.75), seventh in the long jump (14-3.75).

Throwing: Emmaline Forrester was third in the shot put (28-7) and the discus (87-1), fifth in the hammer throw (84-1). Alyson Zuidema was third in the hammer throw (102-0), fourth in the shot put (27-8.25), fifth in the discus (75-1) and ninth in the javelin (65-9). Hodges was third and javelin (86-0) and Bluford was 11th in the javelin (57-1). Gabby Castillo was fourth in the hammer throw (93-8), fifth in the shot put (25-2), sixth in the discus (64-9) and 10th in the javelin (61-9).

MEN'S RESULTS
Jumping:
Murray won the high jump (5-7) and was fourth in the long jump (20-3.75), Marx won the long jump (21-7.25), Chris Martinez was second in the pole vault (13-5.25), and Aaron Young, Erik Valdez and Coner Nix each tied for fifth with a mark of 11-11.75. Joe Williams was eighth in the pole vault (11-5.75) and Theodore Corontzos was eighth in the long jump (18-0.5).

Throwing: Parker won the javelin (168-8) and was second in the shot put (44-6), and Slack won the hammer throw (147-5) and was ninth in the discus (102-4). Ian Montague was second in the discus (133-1), fourth in the javelin (112-10) and eighth in the hammer throw (105-2). Jim Mosen was third in the shot put (43-10), eighth in the discus (102-8) and sixth in the hammer throw (109-4), and Hoku-lani Wickard was fifth in the javelin (109-9).
