KNIGHTS SWEPT BY ARC IN HOME TWINBILL

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's softball team dropped a home doubleheader on Tuesday to American River, falling 7-1 and 12-0 in five innings.

The Knights surrendered a grand slam in the first inning and couldn't catch the Beavers. Cora Peterson took the complete game loss in the circle, giving up seven earned runs on 12 hits. She finished with three strikeouts. Callie Kingsbury had the lone Shasta hit and scored in the seventh inning on an RBI groundout from Macey Bunn.

The Beavers blew the game open with a seven-run third inning, ignited by Alexa Garcia's solo home run. Shasta committed seven errors in the mercy-rule shortened game and managed two hits. Peterson and Morgan Bourke each hit a single and Bourke added a stolen base. Peterson walked two and allowed eight runs – five earned on nine hits in two innings for the loss. Bourke gave up two earned runs on five hits across three innings of relief.

Shasta (0-4) plays at Sacramento City College Tuesday and a road doubleheader on Saturday at Hartnell.
