SHASTA SWEPT BY HARTNELL ON ROAD

SALINAS, Calif. – Shasta College's softball team was swept in a doubleheader by Hartnell College, falling 10-5 and 9-4 on Friday.

Hartnell 10, Shasta 5
The Knights trailed 4-2 through four innings but gave up two in the fifth and Hartnell pulled away with a four-run sixth. Six Shasta players combined for seven hits as Macey Bunn had the lone multi-hit game going 2 for 4 with three RBIs and a run. Sofie Lebow hit a solo home run, Kiley Wendt was 1 for 3 with two runs and a stolen base and Autumn Tenney was 1 for 3 with a run. Whitney Carnes (0-3) took the loss despite striking out five, walking none and giving up one earned run on four hits in four innings.

Hartnell 9, Shasta 4
Carnes (0-4) struck out seven, walked none and allowed nine runs – five earned – on 10 hits to take the loss. Cora Peterson had a double, an RBI and scored a run, Bunn was 1 for 3 with two runs and Wendt was 1 for 3 with a run and two stolen bases.

Shasta (0-5) plays a doubleheader at Mendocino on Friday.
